Our ingredients are sourced from Hwangmaesan mountain in South Korea. For years, the government has been dedicated to reducing environmental damage and preserving the local soil and vegetation. Chemical fertilizers and pesticides are strictly prohibited in this area.
Puritang Green Vegetable Omega-3 is 100% extracted from purslane and perilla seeds carefully grown in this clean, natural, and eco-friendly environment.
Perilla seeds have an anti-allergic effect and do not contain cholesterol, making them the best source material for extracting omega-3. Besides that, the omega-6 and omega-9 polyunsaturated fatty acids found in perilla oil are known to improve cardiovascular health and prevent rheumatoid arthritis.
Purslane has the highest levels of omega-3 fatty acids of any plant grown on land. These vital nutrients support your cardiovascular system and can prevent strokes, heart attacks, and other forms of heart disease.
Purslane is also the best source of omega-3 fatty acids for vegans and vegetarians who are allergic to nuts and seeds such as flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts.
Omega-3s are essential fatty acids. They play an important role in cellular function and maintaining heart, brain, kidney, eye, and skin health.
Omega-3 fatty acids have health benefits for every age group from before birth to old age. They help to prevent heart disease, strokes, cancer, arthritis, and memory loss. Yet, unlike other fats, we are incapable of making our own. We have to get omega-3s from fish or certain plant-based foods. According to medical research, the vast majority of people’s deficient in omega-3s.
Puritang Green Vegetable Omega-3 is a pure and clean supplement for your whole family and is suitable for all ages.
Omega-3 fatty acids are readily available in a wide variety of plant foods. Sources include purslane, perilla seeds, walnuts, flaxseeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds, edamame, seaweed, and algae. Other green leafy vegetables and beans also contain small amounts.
ALA, EPA and DHA are the 3 most important types of omega-3 fatty acids.
Fish oil omega-3 contains EPA/DHA, which can be absorbed directly by the body. However, taking fish oil supplements also brings certain risks. Fish oil supplements may contain an abundance of impurities, heavy metals, mercury, PCBs, dioxins, and other ocean toxins that undermine the benefits of omega-3. Studies show that eating a lot of larger fish varieties is linked to higher levels of mercury in the body. Exposure to even small amounts of this heavy metal may cause serious health problems that can affect the nervous, digestive, and immune systems, as well as the lungs, kidneys, skin, and eyes. People who become pregnant and young children are particularly at risk.
Plant-derived omega-3 comes in the form of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). Our body naturally converts ALA into longer chain omega-3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA. Actually, vegans get enough omega-3 fats from their daily diet, according to findings from the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) Study. Despite zero intakes of long-chain omega-3s (EPA and DHA) and a lower intake of the plant-derived ALA, vegan participants converted robust amounts of shorter-chain fatty acids into these long-chain fatty acids, compared to fish eaters.
Fish contain both DHA and EPA. But that doesn’t mean that those following plant-based diets are deficient in these longer chain omega-3s. In fact, women following vegan diets actually had significantly more long-chain omega-3 fats in their blood, compared with fish-eaters, meat-eaters, and ovo-lacto vegetarians, according to findings from the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) Study. Despite zero intake of long-chain omega-3s (EPA and DHA) and lower intake of the plant-derived ALA, vegan participants converted robust amounts of shorter-chain fatty acids into these long-chain fatty acids, compared to fish eaters.
Most people following plant-based diets have no problem getting enough omega-3s in their diets. One study found that people who follow vegan diets, on average, have intakes above the recommended amounts for omega-3 fats.
When it comes to measuring omega-3 levels, the likelihood of having lower EPA and DHA levels among vegans is, on average, higher; however, this does not extend to any known clinical relevance. In fact, researchers note the advantage of a vegan diet for heart health compared with non-vegans.
Puritang Omega-3s is created using low-temperature supercritical carbon dioxide extraction technology. This technology has obtained a national patent in Korea. Nowadays, most Omega-3s are obtained through molecular distillation. This technique is inexpensive and concentrates efficiently. However, high temperatures are the biggest disadvantage of this process. Heat, light, and oxygen all cause rancidity and the aging of oils, thus damaging Omega-3s.
Compared with the cryogenic supercritical carbon dioxide extraction techniques, molecular distillation is used for fish oils at temperatures 350°F or higher. Unwanted foreign matter or residue may form due to repeated exposure to high temperatures. Using supercritical low-temperature extraction technology, Puritang can produce highly concentrated and pure Omega-3,6,7,9 that have not been subjected to high temperatures, allowing us to complete retain their natural medicinal properties.
Fish oil supplements may contain an abundance of impurities, heavy metals, mercury, PCBs, dioxins, and other ocean toxins that undermine the benefits of omega-3. Furthermore, fish oil products often use a ton of artificial flavorings in an attempt to mask the fishy taste, without much result.
Vegetable-derived omega-3s don’t suffer from these problems. Our purslane and perilla are grown on South Korea’s beautiful Hwangmaesan Mountain, an area where the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is strictly prohibited. This helps to ensure that Puritang Green Vegetable Omega-3, 6, 7, 9 is free from contaminants or pollutants, and is 100% natural and organic.
Omega-6, also called linoleic acid, is a fatty acid that is essential to our body. There may be side effects of excessive intake of LA, but most people do not take enough to feel these side effects.
On the other hand, if you don’t eat enough linoleic acid (omega 6), you’ll have a health imbalance. According to researchers from Harvard Medical School, omega-6 fats are not only safe to consume, but they are also beneficial for the heart and body.
Most Americans eat more omega-6 fats than omega-3 fats, on average about 10 times more. A low intake of omega-3 fats is not good for cardiovascular health, so bringing the two into better balance is key. But don’t do this by cutting back on healthy omega-6 fats. Instead, add some omega-3s. The golden ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 is 4:1. Our product, the Puritang Green Vegetable Omega-3, contains 60% of Linolenic acid (omega 3) and 14.5% of linoleic acid (omega 6). This maintains the golden ratio of 4:1 and makes it easier to absorb.
